Description: Never Mind The Boll**ks No-Fi

Best - Now Known As McLusky;

Are all single males. Their influences are; Nirvana, The Smiths, Husker Du, The Pixies and Jazz. Their star signs are; Aries and Taurus. Their favourite colours are; Cyan, Blue and Steel. They hail from Cardiff, Newcastle and London. They like women, Sunny Delight, fruit, ghosts, morbid dancing, the hoot of the crowd and the way Jon faints after playing a show. They believe that the American Indians have the answer, that their music is Indie Rock, that religion is ridiculous, that ‘it’ (sex?) should always be filthy and Cardiff is convenient and very dark at night. They first got interested in music sometime after the age of 9 through the Uridium soundtrack (a computer game) and Nirvana’s "Bleach". They vehemently dislike genetic engineering, being late and paisley and are Now Known As McLusky.

In the Autumn ’96; Andy and Matt met at Blackwood Miners Institute where they had gone to watch "My Life Story". They were both dressed as miners and were thrown out for playing up. A month or two later they met Jon at the Reading Festival when, in the middle of the night, he woke them up by urinating on their tent. They wanted to go for a one-word name that had a twist of irony. So, they chose Best after Pete Best, who left the Beatles just before they became the biggest band in history.

A few months later they were discovered and signed by Seriously Groovy whilst playing the Welsh Club in Cardiff, before changing their name! - perhaps after the head mistress from Grange Hill? (Ooh spank me teacher). Following the release on Seriously Groovy of their first ever, and arguably their finest record entitled "Huwuno", they moved to Too Pure and began recording with Steve Albini. Recently, having built up a good following, the band lost their original drummer Matt. The story for Best - Now Known As McLusky continues to unfold.

The Reasons For Best - Now Known As McLusky

Put them in a Verve or Embrace concert and they would cry pathetically. They exist so that this sort of epic rock doesn’t conquer the world. They play the sort of songs that they would like to hear themselves. Best - Now Known As McLusky also exist so that Andy has something to do when he can’t sleep.

Best - Now Known As McLusky Live

Best - Now Known As McLusky are grateful towards those who turn up to gigs and like to repay their gratitude by performing with enough energy to convince the audience that they are going through a 45 minute assault. They go on stage and scream at the top of their voices with such raw power that most of us would sustain permanent damage to our vocal chords. Yet... after giving it all up to you, the boys Best - Now Known As McLusky come of stage and continue to talk with voices as shrill as Barbara Winsor and as clear as a national radio presenter on a roll.

The Best - Now Known As McLusky Sound

Imagine playing your favourite grind indie hit full throttle through a tremendously loud amplifier turned up to 11 that’s connected to a wall of speakers, which have all been inverted through shear volume and are sticking out in tatters like fifty or so torn wind socks in a nuclear blast. This is no joke! Although there is a calmer acoustic REM side to them, this is the sound of full-on Best - Now Known As McLusky …and the strangest thing?… you can’t help liking it.

Their first ever record. Think Royal Trux, the Sex Pistols, Primal Scream and Nirvana in one. Stop - start - fission guitars, vicious vocals and top tip tunes. Lo-fi… never mind that bollocks… this is No-Fi and it’s f***in’ great…
