emetrex

this golden world is yours forever

Forever, of course, is a relative term, says emetrex in its collective voice. And time, which swirls and turns back on itself, gazes at us through its billions of eyes and is, at once, all the things we've done and will ever do.

So, our band was/is, a collection of drum loops, bass loops, vocal loops, all types of analogue and digital recorders, speakers, wires, 9-volt batteries, microphones, guitar strings, extension cords, and blankets on the walls. People come and go and come back again (and then go again) but it always seems to be Rick and Dave in the centre of the moving circle.

Describing music, as it goes through air in ever widening circles, is hard to do, but that's what biogs are for, I guess.

Would that help? No?

You could try imaging yourself sitting in the back seat of a car that's falling from a high altitude; spinning through the air while your cell phone breaks up, giving you pieces of the voices you're trying to hear. You're not sure what they're saying. You're not sure you really want to know. In the end, you don't care so you just let it happen.

The voices crackle. The air rushes through your head.

Falling and falling - spinning and listening.

"Wish Me Dead" CD Album (Seriously Groovy/Infur)
Paring down to a 2 piece before settling on a trio, Emetrex have toughened up to evolve beyond their hallucinogenic roots. Those who wistfully remember the melancholic debut 'Metacomet' may well be shaken out of their slumber by this deranged stoner noise-fest. "These boys have decamped to the desert, sucked the venom from a scorpion’s poison sac, rubbed sand in their eyes and snorted the salt from the devil’s sunburnt ass-crack" Tim Dellow, Plan B

"Hammer In My Skull" CD EP (Seriously Groovy/Infur)
With recent single "I Think The Sun Makes Me Move" proving a triumph, Emetrex release the 2nd single from forthcoming album 'Wish Me Dead'. Looking to pour scorn on their adversaries, like liquid magma, their smouldering new release 'Hammer..' does exactly what it says on the tin. "punchy and rocky with a West Coast breeze blowing through its smoky vista until the paranoid ending" Sasha S, Deo2.com

"I Think The Sun..." CD EP (Seriously Groovy/Infur)
New single from anticipated second album. "I Think The Sun Makes Me Move" is proving a hit, with radio support coming in from BBC's Steve Lamacq, and Q Magazine tipping it in their Top 50 Essential Tracks to Download. Emetrex turn up the rock with this groovetastic smash. "A wailing, distorted, fuzz-soaked monolith of an indie-rock record" Mike Diver, Drowned In Sound

"Curve of the Earth" CD Single (Seriously Groovy/Infur)
emetrex serve up yet another stonking slice of yanker lo fidelity that will continue to establish them as the stars and stripes of the Sparklehorse, Grandaddy and Lambchop stable. The first from a new batch of recordings leading up to a second full length album to follow last years 'Metacomet'. "Gently throbbing, scuffed and sensitive, enervated but still slightly angry" Mei Lewis, Big Issue Cymru

"Metacomet" CD Album (Seriously Groovy/Infur)
A captivating debut long player, emetrex's enchanting eclectism melds droning guitars, simple drum licks, booming bass & samples to a pleasing hypnotic slant. A beautifully-controlled piece of yank psychedelia, "Whispered emotions and slow burning guitars dominate this inspired debut from the heart warming Emetrex" says Johnny K at RockSound, and with further reviews from Q Magazine, Get Rhythm, Classic Rock and even The Sunday Times, it seems everyone agrees.

"Staring at the Stone" CD Single (Seriously Groovy/Infur)
Launching with a hint to the debut album from which it's taken. 3 beautiful songs take you on a hypnotic journey into the sublime hallucinogenic dreamscape that is emetrex.  Playlisted by Xfm, BBC Radio London Live and the Student Broadcast Network, and bringing in those NME and Melody Maker reviews; "...They could just be next year's... well, Radar Bros, at least. Here's hoping." April Long, NME

"King of Animals" CD Single (Seriously Groovy/Infur)
An incredibly catchy single from emetrex, which is also featured on the spectacular debut album 'Metacomet'. With this tune they toughen-up their soundscapes and attack with a song that claws it's way into your head. It immediately picked up airplay from Xfm and BBC regional radio, and went on to receive rave reviews notably in NME and Melody Maker; "...It's like laconic Yank lo-fi that just sort of burrows its way into your skull, like demon-possessed and badly bloodrusted farm machinery. And then sits there. Throbbing..." Steven Wells, NME

"The Birds Your Brothers" CD EP (Seriously Groovy/Infur)
Mesmerising swirling sounds carved out of samples guitars basic drum rhythms and effects. The debut EP from emetrex that saw them gaining immediate support from the media; "Emetrex do the US fuzzy guitars and pretty loops thing well..." Kitty Empire, NME.
