Jet Johnson "Le Jet (Plume Remix)" Download Single. Jet Johnson are back with an upbeat number. Released as a download single to
coincide with the controversial 'Oil Wars' video that had its
first airing on American TV the week of the elections. A highly contentious
animation that takes us on a journey from Noah's Ark to suicide bombers via the
beatings of Iraqi prisoners! Light relief is provided by the fantastically
dancey "le Jet" as it pumps out hollow bass sounds and electro
vibes. Staying just the right side of white funk. You can't help but shake your
booty to this one.
Jet Johnson "Death Song" CD
EP. Follow-up single to the
fantastically poppy 'Donnie' and taken from the uniquely beautiful 'Micropolitan'
album. 'Death Song' takes a melancholic turn as the band continue to charm with
their lilting vocals and ethereal guitars. RCA graduate Ebba Erikzon
whose recent works includes 2 short films for Radiohead animated the
eclectic video promoting this post pop gem from our Norwegian lovelies,
Jet Johnson.
Jet Johnson "Micropolitan" CD
Album. ‘Micropolitan’ is an album that is both elegant and warm, and evokes a
feeling of youthful innocence. Caroline’s voice is haunting and emotive, and is
backed to the hilt with care-free pop tunes and quiet melodies which caress the
listener’s eardums from the rest of the band. Although jam packed with songs
that could make a hardened criminal hark back to childhood days of riding a new
bike through the park, the single ‘Donnie’ is an outstanding slice
of quirk-pop perfection.
Jet Johnson "Donnie" CD Single. ‘Donnie’ is a single which arrives just in time for ice
cream, days in the park, and the rest of summer. It’s a stunning pop paean to
teenage yearning, young imagination and fan worship (of Donny Osmond).
With its punchy indie pop dynamism, sweetly shimmering melodies and lilting vocals,
'Donnie' is likely to land it in many critics’ singles of the year
charts. A worthy addition to any playlist, or record collection and previews
forthcoming debut album ‘Micropolitan’.
Mother Goose "Junior Magic" CD
Album.
The contentious Mother Goose produce their first album for
Seriously Groovy. A hysterical, fantastic, artsy, noisy, snow-shoed, crazed, and
anticipated, very Finnish long player. Following on from the 'Little
Richard' mini-album which "bears a resemblance to the creations of Nick
Cave during the more bizarre and freakishly surreal moments" -Rock
Sound, it's dark, sombre and sweet as molasses and contains the latest single 'Village'. It's magic smagic!
Mother Goose "Village" CD Single.
A brave single from Helsinki's artnoise 3 piece Mother Goose to follow-up
their "Little Richard" EP. "We think Village is a
powerful song that will open the ears of the listener and the Radio DJ" they
tell us - and we agree! Not content with the normal 'poppy' single formula, the band
continue to stretch your perceptions and deliver three tunes, with a crushingly beautiful
ballad as the title track and the bands Christmas anthem "Born Kind, Christmas
Time" to play you out. Cracked, for sure - but complete genius you will
admit.
Mother Goose "Little Richard" CD EP.
Featuring top tune "Nag" favoured by both Steve
Lamacq at BBC Radio 1's Evening Session and John Kennedy
at Xfm. But, why does the title track bear no relation to its namesake?
You may well ask! But asking is the point. The enigmatic Mother Goose, ex Blast
First, strike out with their first solo release for some time. And they want you to
question. The first track is a slow and dark Nordic romp that picks up pace into the
highly acclaimed "Cocaine Mirror". Each track is a classic, but
then if you had recordings featured alongside Sonic Youth they would be wouldn't
they?
Mo-ho-bish-o-pi "Two Tier Water-Skier" CD EP.
Featuring the single, "Smoke Yourself Thin" as played
on Steve Lamacqs Radio 1 Evening Session. "An agitated and scratchy
- but still immensely catchy - little pop tune" [Melody Maker]. If you
like Beck, Sonic Youth, Pavement, white leather, Elvis suits,
wigs or feather boas, you'll die for this. A debut ep by a 3 piece from the land of the Super
Furries and The Manics.
